Globe Deploys Libreng Tawag, Charging, WiFi Services As #Dante Hits PH

Globe is ready to extend assistance to residents in areas threatened by tropical storm Dante as part of the company’s intensified disaster preparedness campaign.

The telco also assures that its technical and support personnel are on call, as well as standby generators for use of its facilities.

Globe’s Libreng Tawag, Charging, and WiFi services were already deployed today in Borongan Public Plaza, Borongan City Eastern Samar, and are available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The communications services will also be set up in other places where the typhoon is seen to bring heavy rains and strong winds.

Globe is also providing free data access to the website of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) for Globe and TM customers for updates from authorities even as it reminded Filipinos to only tune into legitimate and trusted websites for the right information.

Residents in affected areas were also advised to stay indoors, store enough food and water, prepare candles and first aid kits, ensure their flashlights have extra batteries and their mobile phones are charged and expect to receive SMS alerts from NDRRMC.

According to the 11 am bulletin of PAGASA, the center of Dante was estimated over the northwestern coastal waters of Romblon, Romblon with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center, gustiness up to 90 km/h, and central pressure of 996 hPa.

It will continue moving generally northwestward and may pass near or in the vicinity of Oriental Mindoro or the southwestern portion of Batangas before turning north northwestward making another landfall over Bataan tonight. It will then traverse the Zambales and Pangasinan area and emerge over the West Philippine Sea tomorrow morning.

Typhoon signal no. 2 which brings damaging gale-force winds, is raised over Romblon, Marinduque, the northern and central portion of Oriental Mindoro, the northern and central portion of Occidental Mindoro, Batangas, Cavite, Bataan, the southwestern portion of Bulacan, the western portion of Pampanga, Zambales, the western portion of Tarlac, and the western portion of Pangasinan.

Typhoon signal no. 1 is raised over the northern portion of Palawan, the rest of Oriental Mindoro, the rest of Occidental Mindoro, the western portion of Quezon, the western and central portion of Laguna, Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, the rest of Pampanga, the rest of Tarlac, the western portion of Nueva Ecija, the rest of Pangasinan, the southern portion of Benguet, and La Union.

Also included are Aklan, Capiz, the northern portion of Antique, and the northwestern portion of Iloilo.
