The Globe Group stands side by side with thousands of families affected by the powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck Luzon early Wednesday morning, readily mobilizing support to respond to urgent humanitarian needs in severely-hit areas.

Encouraging public support, Globe has also activated a platform through which its customers could send help with a few clicks on their devices.

Starting July 29, Globe customers may convert their data into Rewards points which can be donated to charities and foundations of their choice in support of quake-hit families.

Globe users— mobile prepaid and postpaid customers and home prepaid WiFi customers— can simply go to the Rewards section of the new GlobeOne app and tap “convert data.”

For Globe prepaid users, 1GB of data is equivalent to 1 point, while the same amount of data is worth 5 Rewards points for postpaid users.

Globe customers may also donate their Rewards points which will expire by end-July 2022.

Customer donations will be sent to support relief efforts of partner organizations such as the Ayala Foundation, the GMA Kapuso Foundation, Rise Against Hunger Philippines, and the ABS-CBN Foundation.

“The powerful earthquake destroyed some cultural sites and critical infrastructure, making delivery of relief efforts difficult in hard to reach areas. Through our innovative first in the industry Data As Currency feature in our new GlobeOne app, our customers have as many options as possible to extend much needed assistance to our kababayans affected by this disaster,” said Darius Delgado, Globe’s Head of Consumer Mobile Business.

The country’s top mobile wallet GCash, meanwhile, is encouraging its users to support quake relief through its #GCashGivesBack QR code and “pay bill” wallet. Donations collected through these channels will be equally distributed to partner NGOs involved in relief efforts in quake-hit areas, particularly epicenter Abra and adjacent provinces.

“It’s important that we all come together in providing help to those affected by this calamity. We hope that through these accessible digital channels provided by GCash, we’re able to quickly gather funds to support relief and recovery operations in badly-hit areas. Let us all intensify our efforts in making a positive impact on the lives of one another,” said GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon.

Users can also opt to scan the GCash QR code of its partner NGOs to directly send them funds.

The subscription-based telehealth service of the Globe Group, KonsultaMD, meantime is offering residents in quake-stricken areas FREE consultations with a general physician for 1 month.

Using the code LIBRENGKONSULTA, quake survivors may avail of unlimited voice KonsultaMD consultations between July 27 and August 31, with one free video consultation within the same period. KonsultaMD will send patients the necessary prescriptions, laboratory requests and medical certificates electronically.

Those in need of psychosocial support may, meanwhile, seek mental health consultations for free via the app using the voucher HEREFORU, with unlimited sessions within the same period.

Just download the KonsultaMD app and input the voucher codes to redeem the free consultations.

“At this challenging time, accessible healthcare is a crucial part of immediate response and paves the way towards recovery. That is why KonsultaMD, with its roster of trusted doctors, is providing free medical consultations to our quake-stricken kababayans until the end of August,” said Cholo Tagaysay, KonsultaMD Chief Executive Officer.

Globe had deployed a Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng WiFi station in Bangued town, Abra within hours of the temblor to provide accessible connectivity to quake survivors.

It is working closely with local authorities and the national government to provide life-saving aid to stricken families.
