As a small business owner looking to get their products out to potential customers, you may be wondering how to go about doing so. You may not be ready to launch and host your own website, but you want to start selling your products online to test the waters. Luckily for you, there are a ton of websites small business owners can utilize to sell their goods and start making money online

Here are a few options you can consider:

1. Etsy

Etsy is one of the largest craft marketplaces with thousands of sellers making sales every day. From personalized portraits and wedding invitations to party decor and handmade jewelry, the possibilities are endless. Etsy acts as a search engine so the better optimized your storefront is, the better chances you have of putting your products in front of the eyes of potential buyers.

Etsy’s listing fees are $0.20 per item, plus 6.5% of each transaction amount. However, because of their listing prices, many sellings are looking for alternatives to selling their items. Something to keep in mind if you can’t afford the fees.

2. Poshmark

Poshmark is a website most commonly known for buying and selling new or used clothing and accessories. Though it’s most known for clothing, sellers can also sell other goods like home goods, electronics, and pet supplies. Poshmark takes a $2.95 flat fee for sales under $15 and for sales over $15, they take 20%.

Poshmark would be best suited for small business owners who sell vintage items or who specialize in clothing and accessories.

3. Amazon

Amazon is a platform we all use frequently and since it’s such a huge global marketplace, small business owners can really make a profit selling their goods so long as they market them right.

When listing your items on Amazon, you may find that the fees associated with doing so are a lot higher than on other sites. This is because there are so many other businesses selling on the platform. There are two different plans available to Amazon sellers:

  • Individual: $0.99 per item sold + selling fees
  • Professional: $39.99 per month + plus selling fees.
