As of June 3, MRT-3 and LRT-1 have not yet released official statements regarding similar free ride offerings for June 12. Commuters are advised to monitor updates from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and train operators for announcements in the coming days.
Why June 12 Matters
The Philippines officially gained its independence from Spanish colonial rule on June 12, 1898, marked by the historic raising of the national flag in Kawit, Cavite, at the residence of General Emilio Aguinaldo. This annual holiday is a symbol of freedom, unity, and national identity, and is celebrated with parades, programs, and public ceremonies.
Plan Your Travel Accordingly
Commuters planning to take advantage of the LRT-2 free rides are advised to arrive early to avoid long queues during the peak free hours. Normal fare rates will apply outside the promotional windows.
