Initiative Marks the Launch of “Lend A Hand” CSR Advocacy
Metro Manila, Philippines | March 2025 — Digido Finance Corp., the company behind leading fintech platforms Digido and UnaCash, reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability by organizing a coastal cleanup drive in Barangay Camachile, Orion, Bataan.
Held on February 28, 2025, the event brought together over 70 volunteers from various sectors, including Digido employees, local residents, municipal workers, and members of the Samahang Magdaragat of Camachile (SAMACA). Also in attendance were personnel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Volunteers successfully collected 136 sacks of waste and debris from the coastline. Before the cleanup, a MENRO representative conducted an awareness session on the importance of preserving marine ecosystems and protecting the country’s water resources.
The initiative marks Digido’s second community-driven environmental project in Barangay Camachile, following its mangrove tree planting drive in 2024, where over 1,100 mangroves were planted to enhance coastal resilience and biodiversity.
“Lend A Hand” Advocacy: A Commitment to Long-Term Impact
The cleanup drive also served as the official launch of “Lend A Hand”, Digido’s revamped corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the company’s core values.
Rose Arreco, Digido’s Business Development Manager, emphasized the company’s long-term approach to community engagement, stating:
“Genuinely lending a hand is not a one-time effort. We believe that sustained, intentional focus on communities leads to meaningful and lasting impact. This initiative builds on our past efforts and highlights the urgency of environmental stewardship. We encourage communities to stay proactive in protecting our marine ecosystems.”
The Philippines remains one of the world’s top contributors to marine plastic pollution, primarily due to heavy reliance on single-use plastics and ongoing waste management challenges. Through initiatives like “Lend A Hand”, Digido Finance Corp. aims to drive positive change by fostering environmental responsibility and community collaboration.
