The Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines, Inc. (CCIP), in collaboration with Globe Business, recently empowered the Philippine cosmetics industry through a 3-day seminar titled “Guidance to Industry – A Cosmetic & Household Urban Hazardous Substance (HUHS) Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) & Product Information File (PIF) Training and Workshop.”
Held at the Globe Tower in Taguig City, the program attracted 156 participants from manufacturing, trading, and distribution companies.
The workshop focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and tools to implement processes aligned with Good Regulatory Practices (GRP) and the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD). This will ultimately help companies achieve favorable outcomes in regulatory submissions for licenses, certifications, registrations, and notifications.
CCIP’s longstanding commitment to the industry was evident. Since 2014, they have been conducting annual Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) trainings. Pre-pandemic, these were held in person, while virtual sessions were offered during the pandemic.
Shirley Cayago, CCIP VP of education & professional development from Wipro Splash Corporation, emphasized the value of the seminar. She highlighted the focus on core principles of Good Manufacturing Practices and industry best practices. Participants gained valuable knowledge and were motivated to apply these principles through interactive elements like quizzes.
The program also delved into crucial topics like post-market surveillance findings, product recall procedures, and Product Information File (PIF) requirements. Engaging Q&A sessions between speakers and attendees further enhanced the learning experience.
The seminar culminated in a certificate awarding ceremony, celebrating the successful completion of the program. Cayago encouraged active participation in such events, emphasizing their role in promoting quality awareness and staying updated on regulations and best practices.
Among the key industry figures who presented valuable insights were Grace S. Domingo, a CCIP expert and president & technical director of Regitech Consulting & Services, covered the 13 Modules of ASEAN GMP; Guinevere Pastrana, MBA, RPh, a food and drug regulation officer IV at the FDA’s CCHUHSRR, discussed the Post Market Surveillance Process & Inspection; Juan Diego Malicse, RPh, a food and drug regulation officer III at the FDA’s CCHUHSRR, addressed the Complaint & Product Recall Procedure; and John Robinson Uy, MBA, RPh, regulatory affairs manager of Unilever Philippines Inc., CCIP PIF Lead, and member of the ASEAN Cosmetics Association Inc (ACA) Public Relations and ASEAN Affairs, provided an overview of the Product Information File (PIF) and led a workshop on the topic.
As a non-profit organization, CCIP is committed to uplifting and guiding the industry. According to Cayago, “It takes a lot of time and effort for the Board and the committee to organize the seminar,” thus, she adds that “To see so many cosmetics member companies enlightened and learn so much from the program was very fulfilling. Everybody celebrated the success of the program during the awarding of the Certificates of Completion.”
This informative seminar exemplifies CCIP’s dedication to empowering Philippine cosmetics companies to navigate regulations and achieve success in both domestic and regional markets.
