Globe has joined hands with Mandaluyong City in keeping almost 470,000 residents safe, informed, and connected during the pandemic via free GoWiFi and Automated Mobile Blaster (AMBER) services.
Globe is powering up Mandaluyong City Hall and Mandaluyong City Medical Center as part of a broader plan to elevate the availability of accessible internet in the country and improve COVID-19 vaccination coverage via SMS.
With GoWiFi, Globe’s public WiFi service, staff members of the local government unit and the city medical center, as well as the general public, can conveniently continue with their essential online activities and remain connected with their loved ones without extra cost.
Globe also helps the residents quickly and more reliably access information related to MandaVax, the city’s vaccination registration portal. Through AMBER’s text blast platform, Mandaluyong City can easily send important community announcements to multiple recipients at the same time, regardless of the network service provider.
Hon. Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos, Mayor Mandaluyong City, expressed appreciation to Globe for its free GoWiFi and AMBER services. “Alam natin kung gaano kahirap at ka-importante ang communication at this time,” said Mandaluyong Mayor Abalos. “Everyday, we need to reach out one by one to 10,000 Mandalenyos to inform them of their vaccination schedule but Globe’s AMBER facilities help us make a better and smoother coordination for our MandaVax program. Thank you very much, Globe. Pinagaan niyo ang trabaho namin.”
“We are also happy to share that apart from our Mandaluyong government office, free internet connectivity will also be available in areas with little to no communications signal thanks to Globe’s free GoWiFi services,” Mayor Abalos added.
“Globe is glad to take part in this milestone partnership with Mandaluyong to support their journey towards becoming a digital city,” said Peter Maquera, Senior Vice President of Globe Business. “With digital solutions proven to be critical to overcome the challenges of the pandemic going into the new normal, I’m happy to share that Globe will be supporting the city with Globe GoWiFi and AMBER, technologies that we hope will improve emergency-preparedness and manage the safety of Mandalenyos.”
Last year, Globe also donated Php 1 million to Mandaluyong City to purchase additional COVID-19 testing kits. Access to stable, reliable, and fast internet was also made possible by installing GoWiFi hotspots at the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), Mandaluyong Public Markets 1 & 2, and Puregold Price Club-Shaw.
Globe supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals particularly UN SDG No. 9 on the importance of infrastructure and innovation as significant drivers of economic growth and development.
