SAP’s Young Professional Program to be piloted in Indonesia and the Philippines with the aim to benefit 50 early talents in the region in 2017
SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announces the launch of its flagship program for young talents, SAP’s Young Professional Program (YPP), in Southeast Asia. Developed by the SAP Training and Development Institute (SAP TDI), this program was introduced with the objective to support sustainable employment opportunities for top graduates from the respective local universities. Through this program, selected candidates will go through a series of intensive trainings on exponential SAP technologies to help them navigate the new digital landscape.
With pilots running in Indonesia and the Philippines in 2017, the Young Professional Program will last for 3 months, covering a development plan, which will allow students to gain certification on a set of SAP’s solutions with key focus on SAP’s latest innovations. Soft skill development workshops like Design Thinking, Interview Techniques, Communication & Presentation Skills round off the comprehensive training course. The overall program is designed to boost the business system knowledge and entrepreneurial mindset of local university graduates with an overarching, long term goal of supporting and training young minds to thrive in the digital economy. It aims to benefit 50 early talents from the two countries in the first wave of the program in the region. With a limited number of places available, candidates selected for the program will be provided all training free of charge.
“SAP has been making great strides to invest in skills development of ASEAN youths. Through the SAP NextGen and programmes such as the ASEAN Data Science Explorers, SAP is already supporting the digital literacy of 13,000 youths in Southeast Asia. This is part of our overarching philosophy that young people will be our future leaders and we need to start investing in them today as we pave the way for a brighter digital future together,“ said Claus Andresen, President and Managing Director, SAP Southeast Asia. “SAP’s Young Professional Program is a great addition to the initiatives we already have in this region for the millennial workforce. We are confident that the selected candidates for this program will gain valuable experience from the intensive training, and will therefore be equipped to contribute to the ecosystem upon their completion of the program.”
Participants graduate from the program as SAP Associate Consultants, which will allow them to explore employment options with SAP customers and partners. This will help the target country’s unemployed or underemployed young talent to kick-off their career in tech. Graduates gain a competitive edge against other young professionals in pursuing various career paths among SAP’s globally positioned customers and partners or beyond. The program alumni are equipped to enter a corporate workforce within the SAP ecosystem or to establish their own companies by nurturing their entrepreneurial mindset.
True to SAP’s corporate vision to “Help the world run better and improve people’s lives,” the SAP Training and Development Institute has already run a host of programs in different parts of the world, tailored to bring SAP business skills to those who have a cultural and social understanding of the local region and will now roll out its initiatives in Southeast Asia. “ASEAN young talents want to make a difference, and the unique training initiatives offered by the SAP Training and Development Institute will empower local technology enthusiasts and empower them to drive the region’s economy, “ said Marita Mitschein, Managing Director SAP Training and Development Institute.
