The implementation of digital twin and simulation technology across industries has rapidly increased within the past few years. The market demand for these technologies is high as achieving cost and time efficiency is possible, and evaluating be-launch products, solutions, services, and infrastructures is supported in a virtual environment. 

At the “CES 2023,” which was held in Las Vegas last January, the digital twin was highlighted as an innovative keyword. Numerous companies, institutions, and organizations in diverse sectors showcased their successful digital twin technology stories and demos, including aviation, mobility, marine, education, and digital healthcare sectors. 

E8IGHT, a South Korean simulation company that solely developed CFD software NFLOW, is expanding market capacity in a digital twin platform field as well. As of last year, the NFLOW market penetration rate has increased twice the amount across the industries.

The solver capacity of NFLOW has been proven in various industries. The latest case involves the global secondary battery maker company “P.” Company “P” implemented NFLOW to secure a stabilized structure model that produces first-rate raw materials by adjusting the agitator and other variables. 

Simulation is possible even in electronic devices such as aeroacoustics or heat transfer of a cooler. Global electronic company “S” utilized NFLOW to track physical and chemical phase change which were challenging to obtain with other CFD software. 

NFLOW has also applied to the smart city sector. E8IGHT is currently navigating digital twin planning and operation in Sejong Smart City and Busan Eco-Delta Smart City, South Korea’s first national pilot smart city project as a public-private joint. 

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, the leading ministry of Neom city, visited E8IGHT headquarters last November to discuss cooperation in building a smart city. Currently, a project is in discussion to implement the part of the city in virtual space based on 3D imaging. In addition, Tokyo Metropolitan Government also visited E8IGHT last January to learn how to successfully apply and manage digital twin in smart cities. 

E8IGHT CEO Jin Kim said, “Digital twin and simulation are general-purpose technologies which have no boundaries in all fields, making it a core link to the use of artificial intelligence and metaverse. We expect the market to grow further considering that those technologies are essential for helping governments and companies achieve their ambition of digital innovation.”
