Social Security System (SSS) members seeking employment in Taiwan may now present either their SSS 2D Barcode (Biometric) ID Card or SSS Certification of Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) Card Processing until May 6, 2016 to comply with the visa requirements for a Taiwanese working visa while waiting for the release of their UMID cards.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines and SSS have agreed to accept either of the two above-mentioned documents pending the release of UMID cards.

Members who applied for the UMID card on November 7, 2015 onwards, and even those with applications dated earlier which have passed the fingerprint investigation, can request for the SSS certification at any SSS branch. Liaison officers of recruitment agencies can also request for the same certification on behalf of their respective member-client at any SSS branch.

Members and liaison officers who filed their requests at SSS branches in the National Capital Region (NCR) or at the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) can claim their certifications at SSS POEA after five working days.

For requests filed at SSS branches outside NCR, members and liaison officers can claim their SSS certifications after five working days from the SSS branch that received their request.

For UMID-related concerns, members and recruitment agencies can direct their queries to any SSS branch, or to the SSS ID Card Production Department over the phone at 924-6446 to 55 or thru email at member_relations@sss.gov.ph.
