The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a public advisory warning motorists and vehicle owners about a fraudulent Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) website that is currently circulating online.
According to the LTO, scammers are using a phishing scheme that typically begins with a text message claiming the recipient has committed a traffic violation. The message often includes a link that redirects users to a fake LTMS portal, designed to closely resemble the official website in order to steal personal information.
The agency emphasized that it does not send text messages containing clickable links related to traffic violations. Any message claiming otherwise should be treated as suspicious.
To avoid falling victim to scams, the LTO advised the public to access its services only through its official and verified platforms, including:
- The official LTMS Portal– https://portal.lto.gov.ph/
- The official LTO website- https://lto.gov.ph
- The verified LTO Facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/LTOPhilippines
The LTO further urged the public not to click on any suspicious links and to immediately report questionable messages. Reports may be sent to AksyON THE SPOT through the official hotline +63 929 292 0865.
Authorities continue to remind the public to remain vigilant online and to verify information through official government channels to prevent identity theft and other cyber-related crimes.
