Manila, Philippines, 27 Aug 2024 — ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines recently opened its upgraded facility in Makati City, another milestone in its expansion efforts to raise the country’s data center capacity to respond to increasing demand.
Data Hall F of STT Makati, formerly known as Globe MK2 Data Center, was launched after renovations and expansion, showcasing the company’s dedication to enhancing its service offerings and capacity to meet clients’ data needs. STT Makati has a total IT load capacity of over 5MW.

The ceremony was attended by key executives, industry leaders, and dignitaries led by Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Uy.
During the program, Binay emphasized the critical role of data centers in bolstering economic growth, creating job opportunities, and supporting smart city initiatives. Uy pointed out that the establishment of the new data centers solidifies the country’s status as a rising data center hub in the region.
Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO and STT GDC Philippines Board Director, spoke about data centers being integral to Globe’s operations, providing essential infrastructure that underpins its digital services and solutions.
“As we expand STT GDC Philippines, we get closer to our dream of turning the Philippines into a preferred location for hyperscalers in Southeast Asia, driving digitalization and uplifting the lives of Filipinos by creating more opportunities for them,” said Cu.
Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, ACMobility CEO and STT GDC Philippines Board Director, also emphasized the importance of data centers in Ayala Corporation’s portfolio, noting how they drive digital transformation and infrastructure development by attracting international enterprises and supporting local businesses.
“Our goal is to support positioning the Philippines as a regional hub for data storage. As we see growth in the data center business, we are constantly on the lookout for ways that we can harness the synergies across the Ayala group to make sure that we’re positioning this as best as possible,” said Ayala.
In his closing remarks, Bruno Lopez, President and Group CEO of STT GDC and Board Director of STT GDC Philippines, shared their vision of creating a robust, sustainable, and interconnected digital infrastructure that positions the Philippines as a competitive player in the regional and global digital economy.

Meanwhile, construction of STT Fairview and STT Cavite 2 are on track following commencement of construction in 2023.
STT Fairview, slated to be operational by 2025, is set to become the largest data center in the Philippines, with an impressive IT capacity of 124MW once fully built out. Designed to be the most interconnected and carrier-neutral data center campus, it will offer seamless connectivity while incorporating sustainable practices and advanced energy-efficient technologies.
STT Cavite 2, the company’s second data center facility at the General Trias business park, is expected to deliver up to 6MW of total IT capacity.
