Holcim La Union CSR Manager Matthew Almojuela turns over its vaccine donations to Lorma Medical Center representative led by Medical Director Doctor Mario Bautista representatives during the inoculation activity in La Union on Apr. 22

Leading building solutions provider Holcim Philippines, Inc. donated more than 3,000 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to one of the top health service providers in La Union as part of its commitment to uplift communities.

The vaccines can be used as booster for 6,000 people or as two full doses for 1,500 individuals by the Lorma Medical Center in San Fernando, La Union. An initial batch of vaccines were administered as primary and booster doses on April 22 to children and adults to support Department of Education’s (DepEd) back to Face-to-Face Learning this August.

The initiative supports the province’s efforts to reach far-flung communities or individuals who are not able to travel to government vaccination centers to further sustain the decline in COVID-19 cases and mortality among high risk individuals like the senior citizens, children, and indigents.

The donation comes after Holcim Philippines’ successful vaccination campaign that led to all qualified employees to be inoculated by the company or local governments in 2021. The vaccination turnover is also a continuation of the Holcim HELPS corporate citizenship campaign, which last year benefited 196,000 individuals nationwide including close to 20,000 people in La Union where the company operates a cement plant.

Holcim Philippines Vice President and Head of Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility Cara Ramirez: “We are thankful to the Lorma Medical Center for being our partner in providing vaccines to our neighbours in La Union. We are hopeful that this donation will further strengthen the province’s resilience against the disease as we enter summer and tourism once again booms. While the pandemic appears to be easing, we need to remain vigilant and encourage everyone to avail the vaccines to be more protected.”

Robert F. Kaiser, Jr., Lorma Medical Center President and Administrator: “We express our gratitude to Holcim, Philippines for its generous donation of Moderna Vaccines. These were shared with four elementary schools in San Fernando La Union on April 22 and a school in Naguilian, La Union on April 27. These will also be used as the second booster for Lorma Medical Center Health Care Workers. Senior citizens and residents of La Union above 18 and with comorbidities will also be invited at the Lorma Vaccination Center as recipients of these vaccines. Through your donation we have been able to accomplish more COVID-19 vaccinations, and will continue working towards herd immunity by adding to the 80% vaccination rate in La Union. You truly make the difference through this donation, a very notable Social Corporate Responsibility endeavour, and we are extremely grateful.”
