The Social Security System (SSS) launched its first-ever “TrikanSSSya” unit in Paranaque City during ceremonies at the Valley Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (VATODA) terminal along San Luis Street in San Antonio Valley 6 on June 29. The TrikanSSSya unit is housed at the 2nd floor of the VATODA terminal, where drivers can conveniently drop their daily savings for SSS contributions which will be counted and collected at the end of every month. The TrikanSSSya is part of the agency’s “AlkanSSSya” program, which aims to bring SSS protection closer to informal sector workers such as tricycle drivers and market vendors.

Nearly 80 tricycle drivers formed the initial batch of TrikanSSSya participants in the city, about 90 percent of which are newly-covered SSS members, said VATODA President Alfredo Valdez (2nd from left). Chairman Eusebio Japlos, SSS Parañaque Branch Cristine Grace Francisco and SSS Las Piñas Branch Field Inspectorate Section Head and Project Proponent Melchor Allan Lim, Jr.
