Filipino investors can now conveniently invest in the government’s 31st tranche of Retail Treasury Bonds (RTB 31) through GCash’s GBonds feature, marking another step forward in digital financial inclusion.
According to Sharon Almanza, Treasurer of the Philippines, this initiative makes government securities more accessible to the public.
“We’re excited to introduce RTB 31 via the GCash app. This partnership broadens our reach and gives more Filipinos the opportunity to invest safely and conveniently. It’s a major stride toward promoting financial inclusion and empowering citizens to support economic development,” Almanza said.
Government Raises ₱210 Billion Through RTB 31
The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) successfully raised ₱210 billion during the rate-setting auction for RTB 31, which offers a fixed interest rate of 6% per annum over five years. Originally set at ₱30 billion, the offering was upsized following strong demand, with total bids reaching ₱354.2 billion.
How to Invest in RTB 31 Using GCash
GCash users who are fully verified and have signed up for the GBonds feature can place their investment orders from August 5 to August 15, 2025, the official offer period.
“With a minimum investment of just ₱5,000 and no additional fees, GCash users can buy RTB 31 easily through the app. This innovation empowers more Filipinos to pursue their financial goals while supporting government initiatives,” said Martha Sazon, President and CEO of Mynt, GCash’s parent company.
Sazon also emphasized that retail investments in RTBs contribute to the government’s ₱2.6 trillion borrowing program, which funds essential public services and infrastructure projects.
GBonds: Accessible Government Bonds, No Bank Account Required
GBonds is powered by Philippine Digital Asset Exchange (PDAX) Inc. and Bonds.ph, in partnership with the Bureau of the Treasury. Launched in July, the feature allows fully verified GCash users to invest in fixed-income government securities without needing a traditional bank account.
Placing an order through GBonds is fast and user-friendly. Investors receive confirmation within minutes after completing the transaction on the app.
