Globe has built at least 641 new cell towers and completed 8,175 site upgrades in the first half of the year as part of its continued network modernization efforts.

These include changing its obsolete 3G network to 4G LTE in Pangasinan, Misamis Oriental, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Antique, Siquijor and Guimaras.

“These expansion and completion of site upgrades will bring better call, SMS and data browsing services to our customers in these provinces. As we promised during the early part of the year, we wanted to elevate the mobile experience of our customers not only in highly-urbanized areas but also in rural areas to make it more inclusive and accessible,” said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.

These new Globe installations include 31 in Pangasinan; 26 in Nueva Ecija and 16 in Iloilo.

The company has also completed 364 site upgrades in Pangasinan; 362 in Misamis Oriental; 297 in Nueva Ecija; 275 in Negros Oriental; and 183 in Iloilo.

“Despite the travel and health restrictions imposed all over the country due to the pandemic, Globe has been relentless in bringing better and more enjoyable mobile experiences to customers. We encourage those who are still using 3G SIMs to switch to the 5G-ready 4G/LTE SIM now and make the most of their call, text, and data browsing services,” added Agustin.

As of the end of June, Globe has already surpassed the 600,000 FTTH lines it has laid down in 2020.

For the past two years, Globe has been encouraging all of its customers to upgrade to the 5G-ready 4G LTE SIM cards to experience the benefits and advantages of the new technology.

Customers may send SIM CHECK to 8080 if they are still using 3G SIM cards. If they are, upgrading to the 5G-ready 4G LTE SIM is FREE of charge. There is no fee involved and more importantly, customers get to keep their old mobile number. For security reasons, customers are advised to upgrade their SIM at a Globe Store if current health protocols in their respective areas allow them to do so.
