About 50,000 members of the Social Security System (SSS) will have easier access to its services as it opened a new branch in Gaisano Grand Mall at Ilustre Street in Davao.
“We opened a new branch to ease congestion in our main Davao branch and to make SSS accessible to our members including the self-employed and voluntary payi?ng members including those in the informal sector” Assistant Vice President for Southern Mindanao Emmanuel R. Palma said.
Located at the heart of downtown Davao, SSS Ilustre will be servicing 3,180 employers, 20,000 employees and an estimated 30,000 self-employed members within its jurisdiction from Jacinto Street to Bankerohan bridge covering 23 barangays under the first district of the city.
The new office is a full-service branch which offers the issuance of SSS number; accepts and processes applications on benefit claims such as sickness, maternity, disability, funeral and death applications as well as UMID Data capture section. It is open from Monday to Friday from 10a.m to 7 p.m.
Davao is considered as one of the most livable cities in the Philippines where peace and order is remarkable, stimulating progress through multinational investments. To keep pace with the region’s growth, SSS is opening new branches as one of the strategies for social security coverage.
The SSS will continue to open additional branches this year with five new branches and five service offices in the pipeline this year. As of December 2014, SSS has 262 offices across the Philippines located in NCR (60); Luzon (118); Visayas (41), and Mindanao (43).
